Can I have my name back - now?
The greetings and salutations have been pouring in this morning.
DING DONG - the WITCH IS DEAD!
The 17 year nightmare is over.
The rape and pillage is finally complete.
Now what?
Will the new Adobe grok the new paradigm of tools?
Will Rob Burgess ever be able to set foot in Silicon Valley again? Isn’t his reign ending on a down note? Kind of pathetic - no? Lost opportunity, drop the ball - all that?
And what of Norm Meyrowitz or David Mendels? Who cares?
I bet Kevin Lynch has a job - he’s pretty smart - but the rest of them - lord knows they an teach a class in how NOT to run a software company.
Maybe Mr. Chizen (who once called Acrobat the ‘roach motel of standards’) - will get a clue.
Either way - I’d sure like the name back.
And I’d take the Director product line off their hands - if they’d like me to. They more or less have abandoned it. In fact they should pay US to do that.
The name Macromedia started as the name of our new ‘compound document’ architecture we were working on. But they cancelled the project, got rid of most of our programmers and kept the name. Here’s the Macromedia story - from their POV.
Anyone remember the dualing patent lawsuits fight? Well I got to testify AGAINST Macromedia - helping out Adobe. I wonder if John Warnock remembers that.
What are the odds that something will now happen - bare to midlin? But I’d be honored to return - to help out my former company.
The previous caretakers were slimeballs - but Adobe has always had a cooler panache. Either way - they had better get ready for some change - cause who designs software to be sold in a box nowadays?
Who designs software that’s single user or that doesn’t have a built-in community?
Who designs software that’s based upon ‘patent’ protection or which doesn’t have an on-line component to it?
Like I said - I’d be honored to help Adobe out - but they’d have to go open source. I’ve grown at least over the years. But have they?

Wow. Those of us not in the know would love to hear the Macromedia history from _your_ point of view.

Burgess will indeed step foot in the Valley again. He is reappearing as oart of the Board for Adobe. Coincidence? I think not.

I wasn’t sure where/if to post this but here is a link to an article I have published about how Macromedia, Inc. is squishing my company like a bug for no reason. I have a theory that they may be trying to improperly inflate earnings on their books in order to inflate the price Adobe pays — of course, it’s just a theory.
