End of the quarter report

My lightest blogging 1/4 - it’s been a hell of a three months.

We finally got ourmedia.org out. We’re up to 8,381 signed up members in a little over one week. That’s about 1k people a day. Not bad for running on a Drupal single processor machine with almost no infrastructure behind it.

We’ve found some bugs on the Internet Archive which our traffic is aggravating - but we’ll clean that up - soon enough. Kudos to Boris and James at Bryght and my homeboys Gaurav and Ashish outside of Delhi for all this.

Meanwhile JD is cat herding with a ton of moderators, editors and volunteers helping out.

March has been a big month for Yahoo - with the purchase of Flickr, the release of Yahoo 360 and Media RSS. I agree with Ben Hammersley - Yahoo is definitely leading over Google right now.

I just can’t wait to see what Adam Bosworth comes up with. And if they’ll LET HIM do what he’s gotta do.

And Microsoft revealed InfoCards - and I did three conferences in a row.

Now what’s in store for Q2 ‘05?

I’m betting Google will release something coolio, 6A will finally get off their butts and do something coolio and our efforts at OpenTopics will quickly take form. This will give Paolo and Matt a chance to finally shine in the sun.

Meanwhile wait till you see what we’re doing with Avid and a company called Visual Media. Ever heard of JahShaka? 200k downloads.

This is getting fun. Special thanks goes out to the Mingle team, for making Yahoo 360 coolio, but SO coolio that there’s not room for improvement and MANY white papers to explain this to everyone. But Y 360 certainly HAS heated up the space.

Oh yah - Tribe.net has a new CEO.

So in case you’re wondering why I haven’t been blogging as much, we’re making money and feeding that money to pay for ourmedia.org (among other projects.) Who says you gotta have VC money?

You guys have done great with OurMedia. Congratulations. I still can’t upload my vlog post on the damn archive, but I’ll eventually get there.

Yahoo 360 does have room for improvement, IMHO.

    See you soon.

  5. Techcrunch » Blog Archive » Is Mark Pincus Back at Tribe Says:

[…] Mark was ousted from his CEO spot back in April (first spotted by Marc Canter, and Matt Marshall has a good summary here). New CEO Jan Gullet took over, and Pincus commented at the time “I don’t really enjoy being a day to day manager of people and projects…and it’s not something I think I’m particularly good at. Is this a case of another founder being pushed out, kicking and screaming? That’s never the case with me.” […]

  6. TechCrunch Japanese アーカイブ » Mark Pincus、Tribeに復帰か? Says:
