Cross posting and the future of having multiple blogs

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

I was delighted ot see at the recent “Northern Voice” blogging conference that over 80% of the people - had more than one blog. This confirmed all my instincts that we’re entering into an age of ‘multiple blogs’ - where folks maintain 2, 3 even 4 blogs.
They don’t want to give up their original […]

End of the quarter report

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

My lightest blogging 1/4 - it’s been a hell of a three months.
We finally got ourmedia.org out. We’re up to 8,381 signed up members in a little over one week. That’s about 1k people a day. Not bad for running on a Drupal single processor machine with almost no infrastructure behind it.
We’ve found […]

Xamlon

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

OK - so here’s another scripting dev language called Xamlon that’s designed for RIAs (rich internet apps.)
This one has it’s own unique twist - it uses Microsoft upcoming XAML system -f or generating the UI - but since there’s no such thing as Avalon or Longhorn yet - this package outputs into .swf - for […]

For all you Kim Cameron watchers out there and for those of us who have been on a gag-order - I’m delighted to point out that official confirmation has come from within thebowels of Microsoft on what Kim and his team have been up to.

Can’t yah feel the vibe?
That’s the sound of a 100,000 rushing into the next big thing - Yahoo 360. Over the coming days people’s impressions will be revealed on this hybird social network/blogging tool.
Just to be clear. This is what I call a DLA (digital lifestyle aggregator.) No they didn’t get completely […]

Just to be clear - after lauding Om

Monday, March 28th, 2005

While we’re on the subject of lauding Om, he seems to be a little confused over my contradictory attitude towards BrightCove.
How can I on one hand “compare them to Atom/Shockwave” and then declare them the winners?
Well remember - it’s Accel Partners money - and boy do they have a lot of money to spend - […]

I totally agree with Om - Yahoo is coming back - strong

Monday, March 28th, 2005

OK - from my own experiences and POV I can say this:
- Media RSS is the leadership we need in media, subscribing and the web. That’s what podcasting needs. We’re gonna support it in ourmedia.org and we hope others will too.
- Russell Beattie has been helping out in an organization now called Mobile […]

The ever evolving conversation

Saturday, March 26th, 2005

For about three years now - I’m been hemming and hawing and giving people a hard time and (apparently) acting belligerent - about Open Identities.
About the notion of open DNS-like indices of people. And what we could do with them. You see I spent much of teh 90’s desinging systems that relied uypon […]

Sloppy Tags and a true Rennaisance

Friday, March 25th, 2005

Adam Bosworth was at both Etech and PC Forum and he has some interesting insights and fears. What’s most interesting to me = is how similar my thoughts are on the same subjects.
As long as we don’t let the ontologists take over and tell us why tags are all wrong, need to be classified […]
