Image annotation

Friday, January 7th, 2005

Greg Elin is at it again. Fotonotes is now a Wiki environment:

to discuss an open specification for image region annotation and managing photos as a plurality of objects.

Greg is also alpha previewing his FNServer framework - which kind of finally exposes his business model strategy.
You see Greg has been proselytizing and spreading the notion […]

Mobile Monday

Friday, January 7th, 2005

Russell Beattie and Mike Rowehl are having another Mobile Monday - this coming Monday - Jan. 10th at Dimension 7.
Thank God they figured out how to pay off the video nerds there - cause paying $10 just to attend a meeting seemed a bit weird.

Scoble is almost as old as me

Thursday, January 6th, 2005

Scoble is turning 40 on Jan. 18th, and is having a party on the 22nd.
Too bad - cause I’ll be in Seattle on the 23rd, getting ready to attend Steve Boback’s Blog Business Summitt. So maybe we can do a second B-Day party?
Meanwhile I’ll be 48 on Jan. 13th.

Gates goes Digital Lifestyle

Thursday, January 6th, 2005

Once before in my life - Bill Gates and I were in sync on a rising fad. That one was called Multimedia and it went onto being something pretty big.
I got several calls and letter this morning from Vegas telling me that Bill just pitched “Digital Lifestyle” at his annual CES keynote address.
Welcome Bill. […]

danah is right

Wednesday, January 5th, 2005

6A buying LJ could really fuck things up there.
danah boyd has pointed out that 6A is about blogging, while LJ has created it’s own unique form of social computing - in a hyrbid balance between real-time status and messaging with community activity tracking and publishing.
The community and unique interaction that has grown up […]

The power of VC money

Wednesday, January 5th, 2005

Whether it was Joi Ito or Barak, 6A certainly knows how to spend that VC money. Everyone is talking about it and it’s not even 9 AM yet here in PST zone. The purchase of LiveJournal is truly a remarkable thing.
I can think of ONE social networking investor/entrepreneur who is pissed he didn’t get […]

DataJockey

Tuesday, January 4th, 2005

Got this link to a coolio new kind of sharing app - called DataJockey.
Here’s the story.
These sharing apps are coming out of the woodwork. Sounds like we need some standardized APis to unite them together.
Is that a job for Atom? For Dave Winer or what?

Marqui blog makes it debut

Sunday, January 2nd, 2005

It took awhile but Janet Johsnon has finally gotten Marqui to start blogging - even if it’s just her for now. Eric Rice noticed immediately.
Well at least it’s up - and it made it up by the end-of-the-year demand that Roland Tanglao made!
Richard MacManus is bascially just being lazy, (my fault) and I’d say […]

Moving on

Sunday, January 2nd, 2005

Both Loic and Joi are bummed out about what’s going on around the world. Me too. But I say we gotta cheer up and move on!
I just wish that India or Indonesia has subcribed to the Tsunami warning system. That was one subscription fee that would have been a good […]

Marc Barrot finally gets some credit

Sunday, January 2nd, 2005

I was delighted to see Adam Curry use Marc Barrot’s activeRenderer technology - but I haven’t seen any actual recognition up until now.
Coolio - ’cause Marc deserves allot of credit. Now we just need to finish the WebOutliner.
And Congrats to Marc and Claire on the birth of their daughter - Lucille.
