Roland Chanelling Craig Burton

Doc channels Craig Burton all the time. I think I’m gonna be doing a lot of that - in the future.

I just hate fucking patents. But it’s not the patents that are evil, it’s the people who are lazy. Resting on your laurels, milking product strategies and technology implementations until their bone dry - is just sick.

What I really respect are the TV shows that retire when they’re at their top - their zenith. Seinfeld, MASH, Sex & the City - we’ll always remember the best of them - not the inevitable downhill slide.

Patents are sort of like that desparate TV sitcom, milking endless gags based upon the same dam scenario over and over again - Kelsey Grammar comes to mind.

Wouldn’t it be cool is companies like Microsoft or Macromedia - just suddently realized one day - they could give up on their old school thinking patents and supposed “intellectual property” and just jump right back into having to innopvate and create great software - again?

Wouldn’t that be coolio?

Here’s Roland’s post channeling Craig….

QUOTE

Here’s my take:

The only real defense for a technology company is innovation.

I’m not saying technology companies shouldn’t pursue patents. They should. Investors and stakeholders will tolerate nothing less. But in the end, innovation is what makes the difference.

Innovation can topple even the biggest monopoly ever. You know who I’m talkin’ about.

My motto? Innovation trumps litigation.
