Meanwhile Marc Cantor is confused because the iPod doesn't have a camera. Huh? I think that's why he's confused, I'm not sure. He also thinks Apple's 50%+ share of MP3 players is going to drop down to 2%. Now that confuses me....

Because I can put a presentation/slide show on it and bring it to meetings.

Because I can put photos of the kids on it and bring it to the grandparent's house.

Because I can offload my digital camera to it (with 3rd party attachment.)

Because I can hack at it and do neat things we haven't thought of yet.

I returned my 40gig iPod since I'd bought it less than a week before the launch of the iPod Photo. I'm not interested that much in the photo aspect, but I am interested in the color screen. The grayscale iPod screen is not very readable. The backlight helps a little, but try navigating to that in the dark (maybe somebody knows a shortcut?).

Now I wait for the local Apple store to populate their inventory.

Because it's a firmware upgrade and a few license agreements with Hollywood studios away from syncing for-pay video content (iTunes already shows videos cross-platform, and QT got revved along with the iTunes update).

Because Kate loves the security of carrying around a backup of all her music AND photos.

Because (wishful thinking?) it's another firmware upgrade away from being able to plug in firewire to be able to capture/transfer photos directly to iPod (lenses are expensive, leave it up to the people who are good at those).

Because some people don't have computers at home...but they still have an iPod and now, gee willikers, it does photos, too (OK, this one is a stretch...but I seem to see a lot of a-typical iPod users, and have one/two anecdotal stories of people buying computers to go with their iPod...and both were PCs)
