Tribe got FOAF
Many people have asked me “where’s your FOAF file? And I haven’t had a good answer for them - up until now.
Sure I had handrolled my own FOAF, like the rest of them and I have FOAF files associated with my TypePad and LiveJournal accounts - but they’re just testbeds - not my native ‘main’ MT blog.
But now that Tribe’s got FOAF - I’ve found a place to start. Me and my 444 friends.
I also have FOAF files from my Ecademy, Dodgeball, Flickr and [insert your system here]….. accounts - so we’re getting there - but those implementations of FOAF don’t do anything WITH the FOAF file - like Tribe does.
Tribe supports the FOAFnet spec - which supports import and export of FOAF files. This way you can ‘move’ an entire social network with you - when you register into a new system.
So from now on - when someone joins Tribe, they can use their FOAF file to ‘bring’ their friends and relationships into Tribe. Other systems will reciprocate this functionality - for Tribe members can register there and bring THEIR social network with them THERE.
This rocks - this is what the FOAFnet is all about. BTW - Thanks go out to Ross Mayfield and SocialText for hosting the FOAFnet Wiki!
