JIT party planning - Micro-Content dinner #2

Monday, August 23rd, 2004

Tomorrow night’s Amsterdam micro-content dinner will be held at Moeder’s.
The idea of the dinner is to discuss various ideas and organizations that can help establish new kinds of micro-content - like Media, Events, Listings, Reviews and other stuff - too!
It’s a quaint Dutch place on the SingelGracht - right at RozenGracht. Now that’s not [...]

On-line or Off?

Monday, August 23rd, 2004

Lilia Efimova (fresh from her trip to Moscow) writes…..
Martin picks up my yesterday’s note about the need to change my usual “everything web-based” working style since I got TabletPC and explains his struggles and solutions for synchronising online and offline data. Given lots of interests we share it’s not surprising that Martin reframes it as more [...]

Bummer!
What did they do - wait till I split for Amsterdam to announce and have the first Bay Area Mobile Group meeting?
I’m definitely at the next one.
There’s even a blog.

The Olympics through the eyes of Europe

Saturday, August 21st, 2004

I’m here in Amsterdam and I’m watching Spanish, Dutch, German and british coverage of the Olympics. When some major event has it’s finals - all of them cover that event, but the rest of the time - they cover events where atheletes from their own country - wins.

I’ll also be hanging out with some new friends - who helped create Ariba. Coolio - bring on the enterprise process wonks.

New ideas, new code, new standards

Friday, August 20th, 2004

Here’s Greg Elin (Fotonotes), Scott Mathews (Andromeda) and Amy Harmon (NY Times) discussing Greg’s new FotoWiki application.
No - Scott’s not upset, it was the burning hot chili peppers at Grand Sichuan that got to him. Amy laid off the peppers - as she’s about to give birth (go Amy!)
Turns out Amy and [...]

Weatherblox

Thursday, August 19th, 2004

Lyndon Wong alerted me to a new Laszlo BlogBox object - called WeatherBlox:

WeatherBlox is a simple weather forecast application that can be embedded into a personal blog template or Web page, and displayed in any modern Web browser. You can even pre-configure it to automatically appear in a page with the weather for a specific [...]

I LOve NY

Thursday, August 19th, 2004

I almost called Anil last night to find an all-night Internet access place. Sure sure - Bryant Park, Union Sq. Battery Park all have free Wifi - but they don’t have power.
So I’m currently ensconced at a Starbucks at 66th & 3rd - enjoying the summer hotties, the international place that NYC is - [...]
