dotMP (.mp)
This just in from Myles Weissleder
hey marc!
please consider blogging this… dotmp is soooo hot and no one seems to understand the gravity of it all.
for background see: http://www.imediaconnection.com/content/4022.asp
it partly boils down to what nokia has been lobbying to obtain for
years with “.mobi”
see their ICANN application:
http://www.icann.org/tlds/stld-apps-19mar04/mobi.htm
see their lobbying site: http://www.mtldinfo.com/
however, icann’s (read: u.s. dept. of commerce) approval if .mobi is
uncertain at best. approval of .mobi will trigger a war (over who
calls the shots) among the members of the unholy alliance (read: Nokia and MS) that could push back implementation to “who knows when?”. . .
not to mention descent from tim berners-lee: “I urge ICANN not to
create the “.mobi” top level domain.”
(http://www.w3.org/DesignIssues/TLD) and others…

dotmp is here and it’s now… ready to roll. already resolving and
publishing on the mobile internet. it’s a clever use of a VIRGIN
ccTLD for use on the mobile internet.
In an effort to be business friendly and cybersquatter resistant, gib has opened it up for trademark owners to secure their marks in the tld… http://www.sunrise.mp
